Better Said than done, that is a sane as old as any language in the world today, it is often used to describe the difference between thinking about doing something and the hardships you will experience when actually doing it, it is that point in your life where you decide you want better for your vs you actually working to make your life better.
The reason we are even talking about this sane today is because of Motshidisi Mojapelo and how she turned this sane into a mentality that transformed her on her fitness journey and kept her going until she achieved the body she wanted.
Growing up in Tembisa Gauteng. Tshidi dealt with the negative stigma that often accompanies a lot of women who chose to exercise publically in the locations of South Africa. She recalls how people around her thought, she thought she was better than them, the weird and often uncomfortable stares she got as she as jogging and how people around her even in her family just didn’t understand what she was doing or told her she wouldn’t make it choosing to work on herself like this. The thing is all these people except her family didn’t understand why, why is it she was doing all this, this way.
They didn’t understand that she was suffering from severe anxiety which led to a mild depression. They didn’t see that her choosing to exercise, to eat healthy and meditate was her medication because she didn’t want to take pills that would have negative side effects on her mind and body. She was afraid she would be dependent on these pills overtime. She chose to overcome her anxiety and depression the hard way by facing it head on and by changing her body and mind for the better.
She chose the hard way but didn’t necessarily understand the amount of effort she needed to put in to transform herself. She thought it would be a smooth ride as she was still young, but she didn’t realize that self-transformation takes mental strength as much as physical strength. Like a lot of women in South Africa who choose to transform their bodies she expected results quickly which is, unfortunately, is never the case.
After 2 years of exercising on and off, she realized that she lacked the power of consistency, and being consistent is the only way she would get the results she wanted.
It was at this point that Tshidi decided to truly commit to transforming herself, it was at this point she understood the true meaning of the Sane “Better Said than done “she now knew that it was going to be hard, this thing she was trying to do was going to take everything she had in her for her to get right and now she was truly she was ready for it.
In her own words “Consistency is everything. You don’t get results you want when exercising when you feel like it, you get them by exercising consistently. I learned that the hard way.”

She got back to her goal of body and mind transformation but this time she was more motivated and had a plan. She was going to consistent. She worked out more using cardio, jogging, joined a gym where started doing strength training 4 times a week to gain more muscle and she committed to healthy eating by preparing her own meals alongside everyone else’s meals at home . It took 6 months form the point where decided to be consistent to when she started seeing the results she wanted.
Meeting and hearing Tshidi’s story teaches us a very important lesson, it teaches us that no matter what you are going through or where you come from. You can make the changes you want to happen. This currently 23-year-old young woman overcame so much and created opportunities for herself to end up being a certified personal trainer with the goal of helping others transform themselves similar to how she has for herself.
If she can do it, you definitely can too. Let us know what you think about Tshidi’s story by leaving a comment below
