When you aren’t feeling well, your body alerts you. There are a number of reasons as to why we don’t pay attention to signs we get from our body such as being in denial and not trusting what our body is telling us. The biggest factor is being ‘too occupied’ with everyday life and activities.

We also find ourselves not acknowledging our body when something minor is irregular, we tend to wait for major symptoms before finding out what the issue may be. Our body is constantly changing and adapting to the lifestyle we become accustomed to however there are changes that should not be taken lightly, changes such as:

Short Breath

High altitude, extreme temperatures, obesity, and extreme exercise can cause issues with your breathing which also means you may have an underlying health issue. Having difficulty breathing could mean you may have lung complications such as asthma, pneumonia, blood clot in the lung, or bronchitis to name a few

Weight loss

Losing weight without modifying your diet or exercising seems ideal but that could be your body telling you something is wrong. Losing weight with no explanation could be caused by different conditions such as depression, liver disease, and overactive thyroid.

Unaccounted change in bowel practices

Bowel practices vary, from the smell to how often we have bowel movements. When you begin to see changes in your stool, changes in color specifically then it is advised that you urgently seek medical care.

Change in personality or confusion

This is normally associated with medical prescriptions, mental health problems, or below-par nutrition. These symptoms include struggling with shifting or sustaining attention, inability to focus as well as changes in your behavior.

Skin rash & blisters

When your skin reacts and you have a rash or itchy blisters on your back, scalp, knees, elbows, or butt you may have celiac disease. Celiac disease is when the body attacks its own intestines after the ingestion of gluten.

Snoring

Snoring can damage the arteries that supply your brain with blood. It is also a prevalent symptom of a disease that increases your risk of heart disease.

A change in your handwriting

As trivial as it may sound, your handwriting can indicate that there may be something wrong. Your handwriting becomes smaller than usual, this is caused by nerve cells in the brain causing a disease called Parkinson’s disease.

Never-ending high fever

A fever is common therefore it does not mean you should panic each and every time you have it, with that being said it could also be a way your body is alerting you of infections such as tuberculosis or a urinary tract. If your temperature is 39.4 C or more, for 3 or more consecutive days it is advised that you seek medical attention.

Flashes of light

Flashes of light are normally associated with major eyesight problems and migraines. Consult your doctor as soon as you can to help you prevent permanent loss of eyesight.

Eating a little, but feeling full

As soon as you pick up that you feel full after eating a little, you need to consult your doctor as this could be early satiety which is caused by reflux diseases, ulcers, and in the worst-case scenario pancreatic cancer. The feeling normally occurs with other symptoms such as feeling bloated, nausea, or vomiting.
