Pregnancy is one of the most joyous and exciting things that can ever happen to a woman. Bringing life into this world and living up to the divine right bestowed upon a woman is truly more than a highlight in one's life. It's borderline spiritual.

There is no doubt that pregnancy is an amazing thing, but the toll and physical impact on the female body is often a problem and unwanted. The amount of times we've heard women say, “I want to get pregnant but not lose my body or not have my body change" is countless. The ugly truth is the body does go through unwanted changes through pregnancy for every single woman whether its stretch marks, weight gain, c section scars, droopy breasts, etc. These are just some of the changes women go through and Sanelisiwe Mbambo aka GETFITWITSANERIE, one of the fittest women out there, also experienced this change after her pregnancy.

Naturally being a fit person and personal trainer, Sanelisiwe couldn't wait to get back to the gym after giving birth but she understood the importance of giving her body time to recover. She is overjoyed at the fact that she is now a fit mom and has an opportunity to positively influence other women who are mothers and show them that they don't have to settle for the body they are in. If they are unhappy with it, they can change it and maintain it. She is currently taking things slower than she used to and telling herself that it’s a step-by-step process and she must keep her eye on the goal of getting back to where she was before she was pregnant.

One of the struggles that have her frustrated her is getting her abs back into order. In her own words, "It’s very hard right now, I had to get an emergency C-section and on top of that I lost my abdominal muscle tone as my belly grew throughout my pregnancy." However, she believes that through targeted and consistent training, everything will fall back into place and she will get her yummy abs back.

Sanelisiwe credits keeping active and working out while she was pregnant. This helped control her pregnancy bodyweight. Keeping fit helped her manage her weight and has also made it a little easier for her to get back to her desired shape quicker.

We asked Sanelisiwe what she learned and would share it with other pregnant women. Her insightful and true response was “take it slow, one day at a time. Don't think that you will get your body back instantly after a few workouts. You need to be patient with yourself and give yourself time. Remember, you have a little one now who loves you just the way you are. All you have to do is focus on your child and work on your body step-by-step even if it’s 10 minutes a day or 1 hour a day. Set up things to work for you. Don't get discouraged and keep consistent.”
